If this costs less than $2,999, I will be very surprised.
I was curious what the impact of HDMI 2.1 Game Mode VRR would be on NVIDIA, if they would finally embrace a module-less display standard like AMD has with FreeSync. I did not expect them to double down and make G-Sync televisions. I'm not against this idea, if anything it will spur considerable competition from Samsung/LG/Sony to make better game-friendly TVs.
I hope it comes late enough in the year to have hdmi 2.1 as I thought DP 1.4 doesn't have the bandwidth to push HDR 4k at 120Hz. If I spring a grand or two on a monitor. I want it to be at least a wee bit future proofed.
I hope it Is released later in the year with HDMI 2.1 and USB-C 3.2 ports, maybe even Thunderbolt 3, I would part with my hard earned Benjamins worry free for future proofing
Id rather that Panasonic, LG and Samsung just add gsync to their displays.
As a bit of a quality nut, my first priorities are black levels, colour accuracy and - if I was buying now - max NIT level to ensure proper HDR.
If I could just have gsync on the high end offerings from the major companies, I'd have everything I need.
My worry here is having pretty much everything I want from a gaming perspective, married to an average panel with LCD-LED and all the limitations that entails.
Yeah my thoughts are along that line too. Also for a display this size/resolution, I'd want some kind of future proofing with a Tegra x2 inside. If it's an X1 (what's in current Sheild TV) I would not be comfortable plopping down $2k on it.
These should come with free sync and g-sync both enabled! These will be so expensive that having both does not mean anything, but is really annoying if you change your other hardware!
What has nVidia ever done that makes you think they want to support you using someone else's GPU? There aren't normal size production monitors with both G-sync and Free sync on them and you think nVidia is going to put it on the halo product of a new line? I'd laugh but it just seems sad.
In the meantime, AMD just announced that all their cards with HDMI 2.0 output will support Freesync on HDMI 2.1 TVs with VRR through a simple driver update.
I don't want bigger, I want smaller. Specifically, I want a 24" 4K monitor with Gsync, to replace my 24" 1080p IPS monitor. The iPad taught me the value of pixel density. But everyone seems to want to sell me a 27" or even bigger.
please just release oled hdr monitors with latency and refresh rates that will support 3d vision already before they completely give up on any stereoscopic concern that isn't VR ( ignoring the ease of creating stereoscopic assets with respect for inherent depth considerations... by simply allowing for lightweight active shutter glasses instead of having to refer to Bulky HMD everytime one needs to gauge a space's actual effect in stereo ) If they simply release all this ( really old tv tech ) now then maybe when in 7 years I might be able to actually afford as much. Christ I have literally been waiting for a Fast QHD HDR OLED monitor since 2010 thinking that 3 of them would be my next replacement for my current 3D vision surround setup. Never thought they would actually milk wide color gamuts and true black contrast ratios this long? :(
If I die before the 15 year old flexible OLED tech they said would be cheap and ubiquitous 7 years ago actually becomes a thing...

DP 1.4 can do 4k 120 Hz with HDR when DSC is enabled.edzieba - Monday, January 8, 2018 - link
No compression needed, DP 1.3 and DP 1.4 can both transport 3840x2160 at 120Hz (and at 30bpp too) natively.edzieba - Monday, January 8, 2018 - link
Whoops, 3840x2160 at 120Hz 24bpp is native, 30bpp is with DSC.Techpath - Monday, January 8, 2018 - link

Any chance of LG doing one with an OLED panel? :)Also, I'm hoping they'll do models without the ridiculous L33T G4M3R aesthetic. It's going to be a flat no from the wife otherwise.

How will I get sound from my PC to my AVR when using DP G-Sync to send the image to this?beisat - Monday, January 8, 2018 - link
And with this I mean 5.1 sound PCM from games etc., which I currently pass via HDMI to my AVR and then to my TV.theuglyman0war - Thursday, January 18, 2018 - link
